Wallabies


Just like Toucan Sam for Froot Loops and Tony the Tiger for Frosted Flakes, a wallaby serves as a mascot for our milk. Blake Hansen, one of the farm’s co-owners, loved the wallabies he saw in Australia and wanted the miniature kangaroos for pets. He purchased three wallabies straight from New Zealand right about the time we began processing our own milk. A cartoon wallaby was drawn with a cow in the pouch and our logo was born.

DID YOU KNOW?

Full-grown adult wallabies are about 3 feet tall. They eat grass, hay, lettuce and apple slices. Their tails are as long as their bodies and used for balance. Our wallabies live right on the farm, and tour participants can pet or feed the tame ones.

Baby wallabies, called joeys, live in their mother’s pouch for about a year before they hop out and live on their own.

One wallaby joined Blake Hansen in promoting the grand opening of our Moo Roo ice cream store.
